Tuesday Dinners for Students and Tutors at Confluence
I continue to provide dinner a couple of times each month for disadvantaged students and their tutors from Whiz Kids at Confluence on Tuesday nights. If you'd like to help me prepare a meal in my kitchen (and get a free cooking lesson in the process!) or help serve the dinners at 5pm on any of the following dates, please let me know:
1/20, 2/3, 3/3, 3/17, 4/14, 4/28 (year end party!)
End Childhood Hunger with Share Our Strength - Operation Frontline
New in 2009, I'm joining Operation Frontline as a chef instructor for their Eating Right cooking and nutrition program that is made available to a wide variety of social service organizations throughout the Denver area. I need an assistant for each class. Duties of the class assistant (provided to me by OFL) are:
Help unload groceries and supplies
Set up and wipe down tables and chairs
Prep ingredients and cooking supplies for the chef (me!)
Assemble grocery bag for each participant, assemble spice packets
Wash produce that will be used in class before class begins
Set out cleaning supplies, paper products and serving items
Pass out workbooks, handouts, and pens
Be a runner for the chef during cooking lesson
Support nutrition educator and participants with activities and visual aids when needed
Clan up, wash dishes
Pack up and load supplies
Serve as a positive role model for participants in the class
Call me if you'd like to join me for a six week series of classes or if you'd like to sub when an assistant can't make it. I have currently filled the assistant role through April, but really need a list of potential subs!
